Super Bowl XLIII Reaction

February 2nd, 2009

Ok, fine, it was a great game. One of the best 4th quarters in Super Bowl history. I am glad Fitz made some plays but that the Steelers ended up taking away the victory.

What I don’t get is why didn’t they review the final play when Warner fumbled? Arizona had a timeout; might as well call the timeout to give the booth more time to think about reviewing it.

In any rate, the worst part of the game, I thought, were the two ridiculous personal fouls that were called against the Cardinals. The one roughing the pass, where Big Ben got hit a SPLIT second after he threw, and the running into the holder, where the Cardinal was tripped and fell, with his head down, into the holder. These guys are playing their heart out and get penalized for it. Complete bullshit. I understand that both those calls were “by the book” so I don’t completely blame the refs but you got to let them play. The rules have to be, or change to be, that if there is no malicious intent then it can’t be a penalty. There has to be some room for interpretation.

I tried looking for videos of both plays but came up empty. Instead I found this amazing video of a roughing the kicker call in the Hawaii/Fresno State game.

Not to mention after Holmes scored that TD he used the Football as a “prop” and did the KG/LBJ and pretented it was baby powder and threw it in the air.. Which by NFL rules is illegal and a 15 yard penalty on the kick off.

But none the less Cards +7 and hit the over

Yea… that was still cool though.

Didn’t you have the Cards winning outright?

I though they would win, but if i was a betting man I WOULD have taken the points, which is what my pick was…
