Real American Hero?

January 22nd, 2009

Another day another jerk trying to use the greatest red-goateed right-handed hitter in the history of baseball, to untitledmake a buck.  First Jose Canseco tried to throw Big Mac under the bus, then Congress, now his own flesh and blood.

Jay “I’M A FRIGGIN SCUMBAG” McGwire plans to come out with a book of his own, claiming he’d introduced the baseball Jesus to steroids in 1994, afraid his brother was trying to “lift himself out of baseball”.

Is McGwire a saint? No.  Did he juice? Probably, but admit this he and Sammy Sosa single-hasosamcgwire_psd_smallndedly SAVED the game of baseball in 1998.  Baseball was coming out of a dark period, strike, exponential growth in free agent contracts, a World Series that saw a longtime struggling franchise lose a heartbreaking seven game world series to a relatively new expansion team that flipped the squad two months later.  They restored excitement in going to the ballpark.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say there will be a  day when Mac comes clean.  I will be sure to be glued to 60 minutes for that interview.  I just hope he can enter the hall one day.  WHEN he does I will be there with him cheering him on.  Thank you for 1998 Mark, you revitalized a wonderful game.  See you in Cooperstown some daymark2

Yankees Spending Spree

January 8th, 2009

I wanted to set the record straight with something. Why does everyone in the league, who is not a fan of the greatest franchise in sports histry, get upset when the Yankees buy obtain prominent free agents?

Shouldn’t EVERY owner put all the money they make back into the organization? Isn’t that a good thing? Would it be better if they kept the money for themselves? I understand that the Yankees have an unfair advantage in regards to the money they bring in (4,000,000 fans a year come to Yankee stadium, global brand, own network) but they have a good business model… VIVA LA CAPITALISM!
