Why is it that whenever the Beckett loses Boston fans have to come up with some excuse? Beckett is a great pitcher but every pitcher loses. His last start it was because Beckett and Victor Martinez weren’t “flowing” and now last night it was because he is injured. Deal with it Boston fans.
Also, what’s the deal with all this talk lately about pitchers not throwing good games because of their catchers? First it was Beckett/Martinez then this weekend it was Posada/Burnett. How much does it actually matter who the catcher is? I am sure it can affect a pitcher, but that much? I don’t buy it. To quote El Capitan (who is playing out of his mind): “It’s up to the pitcher to throw the pitch he wants.”
I’m not going to do it, I’m not going to do it.. ok, WTF why not. Did I tell you Papi would come through. I am not even talking about the HR. Well I will, He took a 2-2 93 MPH fastball and sent that shit to the moon. Center field, 5 rows up? um a month ago the next batter would be in the box before he got around on that pitch. 7 game hitting streak and rollin.. But what I am really impressed about happened in the 6th or 7th. Papi up with a 2-1 count, fastball outer half and he pop’s it up, but then, not in a “god dam it not again, I may kill myself” rage, more in a “I am back bitches and next time I get that pitch I am going to crush it like Hurricane wants to crush Megan Fox” rage, he jumped in the air, slammed his bat down, looked out at the pitcher and gave that little smirk.. Kind of like he realized he can do it again, but just missed it.
Also Beckett, 6 innings, 45 K’s.. Daniel Bard in the 9th throwing 100mph… wha what?
Probably tonight Papi will go 0-4 with 4 K’s and Papelbon will give up 4 runs in the 9th.. But I am living in the moment of the biggest win of any game ever during the month of June..
So the Sox have come out of the gate rolling on all cylinders, everyone is batting great, pitching is fantastic and the revamped bullpen is exactly that..
But seriously the Sox have been anything but impressive through the first week. yes they played Tampa and Los Angela’s Angles of Anaheim in the State of California, USA, but you would hope not to go 2-4 through week 1. The entire team not name Kevin “I Can Grow a Sick Beard” Youkilis has sucked a big fat baseball batt. Youkilis has as many hits (12) as Jacoby Ellsbury (5 for 24), Mike Lowell (4 for 23), J.D. Drew (2 for 16), and Jed Lowrie (1 for 18) combined. (stole that stat from the globe)
Dice-K can still can not pitch 6 inning’s and is 1/3 of his way to as many loses as he had last year, but hopefully the next week facing Oakland (name 1 starter) and Baltimore will allow the Sox to get back on track. At least we know Beckett is still a hard ass.
With everyone in NY is ALREADY calling for Girardi out?
With every paper, article blowing the NY loss Way out of proportion?
With Pedroia reminding everyone why he was MVP?
With Tek back?
With Beckett having an outstanding performance? thats it
Honestly Beckett was outstanding yesterday. 7inn, 10K’s 2 walks and 1ER. That is exactly what the Sox needed. He was hitting the corners, his curve-ball was 79-81 and dropping off the table, fastball was 96-98 and tailing off, it was a very very impressive outing, something the NY Yankees can not say about their #1.
and if for one second you do not think I was singing sweet caronline at Professor Thom’s during the 7th inn stretch you are mistaken!
