Two Outcomes From Tonight

June 17th, 2010

If you can’t get psyched for tonight’s game then I don’t know what to tell you.  Lakers. Celtics. Game 7.  That’s literally all that needs to be said.  There are only two things that can happen tonight:

If this happens I completely mess myself at the bar:

If this happens I move out of my apartment:

Lakers in 5… BOOOOM

June 3rd, 2010

Tonight is the start of NBA Finals between the Lakers and Celtics… or how it is otherwise called “non-stop hightlights of the Celtics/Lakers rivalry over the past 50 years”. I am giddy for the Magic Johnson highlight reels that will be shown… like this one (This will 100% be the best 7 minutes of your day):

(This is awkward… I’m legit aroused after watching that. He was so G-D good. So much more entertaining than watching highlights of people just dunking.)

With that said… I am calling Lakers in 5. Here is my reasoning:

  • Kobe > Everyone. Kobe wants to be the best Laker ever (and also the best player ever) and he can never become that without beating the Celtics.  There is so much hatred between these two teams and Kobe needs to fix the catastrophe that was the 2008 Finals.  Say what you want about Kobe as a person, but he wants to win and be great… that is all he cares about (unlike Lebron who just wants to Amaze)
  • Pau Gasol > Kevin Garnett.  This is not 2008 anymore.  Kevin Garnett is a semi-factor for the Celtics but he could be the reason for their win/loss.  If Pau Gasol works him this series, the Celtics have no chance but if KG gets SOME of his 2008 life back it will be a lot tougher for the Lake Show.
  • Ron Artest > Being Sane.  I friggin love this guy.  From his ridiculously stupid 3-point attempt in Game 6 to his game winning put-back you literally have no idea  what he is going to do.  I love him for that.  But seriously… what he brings to the Lakers that Trevor Ariza certainly wasn’t, is that tough as shit shut-down defender.  Good luck with this series Pierce.  You might as well start whining and bitching now.
  • Lakers > Celtics.  Lakers in 5.  Mark it down.

Go Lake Show.

Head to Lakers Nation for a ton of fantastic Lakers content. Fine them of Facebook too.

The Week That Was

July 7th, 2009

PACERS CLIPPERS

I haven’t been in SLTHQ for quite sometime now, last Tuesday to be exact, and DAMN has a lot of shit happened.  Let me give you a recap:

  • Ron Artest
  • Wack ass Federer beat my boy Andy Roddick in the finals at Wimbledon… going 30 games in the 5th set
  • Steve McNair?  So sad.  Hopefully a lot of dirt doesn’t come out on him to tarnish what his career
  • Brett Favre’s doctor said Brett wants to play and wants to play for the Vikings.  WTF.  Looks like I will have a new NFL team for the 09-10 season
  • RON ARTEST
  • Dwayne Wade gave himself an out for the NBA Free Agent Sweepstakes of 2010.
  • The wedding the Hurricane and I went to didn’t play any MJ… but the band kicked ASS.
  • The weather in the NY area was amazing… once again proving that God loves America
  • Wang got injured and will NOT be replaced by Phil Hughes, but rather  Alfredo “ACE” Aceves
  • ‘Sheed signed with the C’s, but that doesn’t matter because:
  • ROOOOON “MUTHA F*CKIN” ARTEST!
  • I watched a Roman Candle fight and it was fantastic
  • Ron Artest to the Lakers, in case you haven’t heard

All-in-all a fantastic week off…

Kobe’s Internal Dialogue

June 15th, 2009

57690340

Here is what Kobe was thinking during every single question that was asked last night:

“Bite me Shaq”

It was funny to see Kobe celebrate with his teammates… you can just tell that they don’t like him personally. But, he won them all a championship so they should at least be grateful.

Kobe’s NBA Finals Line:

  • Points – 32.4
  • Assists – 7.4
  • Rebounds – 5.6
  • Steals – 1.4
  • Blocks – 1.4
  • Girls Raped – 0

All-in-all just a fantastic performance by the games best player (not LBJ).

Lakers Up 2 – 0… yadda yadda… MAGIC

June 8th, 2009

Lakers won last night. That’s all you really need to know/care about. In honor of the Lakers going up 2 – 0 in the NBA finals, I will post a commercial that I have watched about 50 times… and still get the chills every single time.

Go Lakers.

Lakers WHOOP Magic in Game 1

June 5th, 2009

Nothing really to say about last night’s Laker DOMINANCE other than if they play that this they will sweep.  Unfortunately they have not played consistent this entire playoffs so they could just as easily get beat in Game 2.  Anything is possible which is friggin scary.

Kobe’s legacy is all about this series, if he loses he can’t win without Shaq and can’t win when he is the best player on his team.  He wins he is one of the best all time.  I think he knows that:

Points – 40

Boards – 8

Assists – 8

Steals – 2

Blocks – 2

Just SICK.

How can Howard only only attempt 6 field goals in this game?  HORRIBLE job done by Ron Jeremy.

Obama Picks Lakers in Six

June 3rd, 2009

obama-basketball

When Obama was asked who he thought would win the NBA Championship, his reply was:

“Lakers in six, I think.”

Regardless of what you think of  his handling of the financial crisis, his foreign policy or choice of cabinet members you have to respect his choice in the Lakers.  KOBE KOB!

Go Lakers

May 29th, 2009

SLTHQ is about to close-up shop and the Hurricane and I are about to go out and get weird… So, in honor of the Lakers game tonight, here is a video that if you don’t get chills you may be dead.  the MVP chant at the end (yes I know it was for the 2008 season) was fantastic.

Go Lakers.

Vince McMahon vs. Denver Nuggets (well, Stan Kroenke actually)

May 19th, 2009

Not sure if you have heard but the 4th game of the Lakers/Nuggets playoff series is scheduled for next Monday in Denver… and the WWE has the place booked. In about two days the 24 hour news cycle is going to make this story overbearing and annoying, but right now I think it is fantastic. Whenever Vince McMahon gets an opportunity to get free publicity he takes it. He is absolutely bonkers…
