Absolutely fantastic; the team of the decade. Bookmarked the the decade with World Series wins, four world series appearances in total. POPPIN BOTTLES
Andy Pettite was absolutely fantastic. All the Yankees needed was 6 decent innings… and he provided.
A-Rod finally got his ring providing that last piece to make him a viable candidate for G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time)
Mo said he can, and wants to, do it for another 5 years and who can say that might not be true? He is not human. He throws two pitches and has been for over 10 years and no one can still figure it out. He was over-the-hill in 2004, 2005, 2006, etc but still is the most dominant figure in all of sports. Ever. That’s a lock.
Whether he deserved it or not, Swisher was a fan favorite this year and certainly added a dimension (along with AJ and Damon) to the clubhouse that allowed the team to relax and just play baseball.
For someone who batted .167 in the playoffs, Dustin Pedroia thinks that the Fenway grounds crew is to blame for the Red Sox loss:
“I’m not lying about that. That is true. I think about those things. That stuff upsets me,” Pedroia said. “My job is to take 1,000 groundballs a day. Other guys’ job is to get the field perfect so we can play baseball.”
You stay classy you douchebag.
On a lighter note, the Yankees are thinking about going to a three man rotation for the ALCS. That would mean CC could pitch games 1, 4 and 7. But, because of where the days off land that would mean only pitching on short rest once. This certainly helps the Yankees but in no way means this series is a lock. The Angles are a dangerous team… but not as dangerous as the Fenway grounds crew.
I just couldn’t leave the below post at the top of SLT while the Yankees were starting their playoffs. Everyone should watch out for A-Rod this post season. He is going to squash all the rumors about him being clutch and I can’t wait.
I know there is a 2:37 game today but let’s be honest, the people in Philly and Colorado don’t really care that much about that game… or is that East Coast bias? Who cares.
Here is a link to a position-by-position breakdown (via LoHud) of the Twins/Yankees series. Why do it when someone else has done it and did it better?
I am nervous about this game. Twins are coming off a SICK run to get into the playoffs and the Yankees haven’t played a meaningful game in 3+ weeks. On the other hand CC Sabathia will be going against Brian Duensing so we got that going for us.
One quick thing that I want to say to Posada: “quick bitching about Molina catching Burnett. Whatever gives the Yankees the best chance to win you should be on board with.”
As you already know the Yankees are playing meaningless games now as they have secured home field advantage throughout the playoffs but last night they had another walk-off win in the Bronx. Who was the honorary hitter? Juan Miranda. Yea, don’t ask because I am not too familiar either. Yes, this game means nothing and means even less if the Yankees don’t make the World Series but it is still nice to see the Yankees going out there and playing great baseball, even when they don’t have to.
Best part of the night though was Burnett: 6.1, 3 hits 1 earned.
I kind of agree with this.. Clearly the Yankees have the worst line up of the big three in the east, clearly that have the worst defense; shortstop (Derek Jeter), third base (Rodriguez) and left field (Johnny Damon) is probably one of the worst left sides in all of baseball. Clearly they have the worst bullpen, as I say this because there is only one person in that bullpen I can name off hand, Mo, which is why I do not understand how some people think they will hit the over of 96+ wins.. That is just crazy talk.
So apparently Mr. Damon put all his eggs in one basket. thank got I have no assets so this is a non-issue for me, from Foxsports.com:
“I can’t pay bills right now,” Damon said at the Yankees’ spring training facility in Tampa. “That started on Tuesday. I had to pay a trainer for working out during the off season. I told him, ‘Just hold on for a little bit and hopefully all this stuff gets resolved.’”
The issues facing Damon and Nady — both New York Yankees outfielders and both clients of agent Scott Boras — stem from the alleged $8 billion fraud scheme involving billionaire financier Robert Allen Stanford.
Karma’s a bitch! Evil empire, once again collapses!
