When Obama was asked who he thought would win the NBA Championship, his reply was:
“Lakers in six, I think.”
Regardless of what you think of his handling of the financial crisis, his foreign policy or choice of cabinet members you have to respect his choice in the Lakers. KOBE KOB!
WASHINGTON (CNN) – Actor and longtime Obama supporter Kal Penn is joining the Obama administration, the White House confirmed to CNN Tuesday.
The actor will be part of the White House Office of Public Liaison, which is run by Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett. Penn will be primarily involved in dealing with Asian American and Pacific Islander communities and the arts community.
Penn told EW.com that the new position comes after some soul-searching.
umm if he is going to be dealing with Asian American and Pacific Islander communities shouldn’t they have hired the Asian dude from Harold & Kumar? Also, is it safe top assume weed will soon be legal?
So I rarely ever talk about politics here because let’s be honest, no one cares what I think. But every once in awhile I say screw you and jump up on my soap box.
I think that the “hope” crusade that Obama started with the election was something that many of us have never, and may never, seen. It was certainly a breath of fresh air after such a partisan 8 years. Now he actually has to be a president and meet all the expectations people have for him.
There are so many sides about this bailout/stimulus bill that I won’t even touch it, but one thing annoyed me. Yesterday, Obama signed a bill worth something around $4,000,000,000 (give or take a few hundred million) and while signing this bill he stated that this is the end of earmarks. That is fantastic, since when debating McCain he took McCain’s side with his hate of lawmakers tying smaller pet projects to larger bills.
The problem I have is that there were 9,000 earmarks on this bill. So, obviously, Obama’s “NO MORE EARMARKS” will mean as much as Girardi asking CC to only eat one sack of White Castle burgers a day; it just ain’t going to happen. It just seems ridiculous to get tough on a stance… starting tomorrow. Today? Oh today you can get whatever you want!
Hopefully Obama grows a pair after a few more months in office.
Watching Obama’s first presidential new conference right now and I have to say I am a bit disappointed. While Obama is certainly the most gifted stump speaker that I have seen in my lifetime, he has a much harder time with question and answer periods. Now this was his first one and I am sure it takes a view to get the hang of things and maybe my expectations were too high, but I felt he needed to be a bit more straight forward with the answers and not be as long0winded.
I think the White House press corps may get a bit annoyed with him over time and then turn on him. Something to watch out for.
One of Obama’s campaign promises was that he would be a president for the people by connecting with John Q. Public through new technology. With the upcoming inauguration, one can have updates sent to their mobile device throughout the long weekend. During the election he used multiple social media channels to reach the young voters. Well, now he has started the Citizens Briefing Book.
Similar to DIGG, people can go to the site and rate ideas that they feel should be worked on by the current (er – upcoming) administation. Users can also share their own ideas and add them to the site.
I am skeptical as to how this will actually affect (effect? I still can’t get that one) what the administration does but at least they are trying. A good idea would be to celebrate the users whose ideas are actually implemented. That will certainly create a buzz and generate tons of traffic to the site.
Saw this article earlier today about Obama talking about college football. I understand him talking about it during the election – wanting to connect with Phil Pigskin – but now just give it up O. Concentrate on jobs, bailouts, renewable energy, Israel/Gaza, etc and not the BCS. Leave the BCS up to the “experts”.
