Nothing really to say about last night’s Laker DOMINANCE other than if they play that this they will sweep. Unfortunately they have not played consistent this entire playoffs so they could just as easily get beat in Game 2. Anything is possible which is friggin scary.
Kobe’s legacy is all about this series, if he loses he can’t win without Shaq and can’t win when he is the best player on his team. He wins he is one of the best all time. I think he knows that:
Points – 40
Boards – 8
Assists – 8
Steals – 2
Blocks – 2
Just SICK.
How can Howard only only attempt 6 field goals in this game? HORRIBLE job done by Ron Jeremy.
When Obama was asked who he thought would win the NBA Championship, his reply was:
“Lakers in six, I think.”
Regardless of what you think of his handling of the financial crisis, his foreign policy or choice of cabinet members you have to respect his choice in the Lakers. KOBE KOB!
I can’t get enough of this video. It is just fantastic. I love that that guy on the end (who I swear is Cuba Gooding Jr.) is just straight watching the game the whole time. Who cares that they were signing off and supposed to be doing the weather. Just fantastic.
Not sure if you have heard but the 4th game of the Lakers/Nuggets playoff series is scheduled for next Monday in Denver… and the WWE has the place booked. In about two days the 24 hour news cycle is going to make this story overbearing and annoying, but right now I think it is fantastic. Whenever Vince McMahon gets an opportunity to get free publicity he takes it. He is absolutely bonkers…
The Houston Rockets, without Yao and Tracy, forced the Lakers to a game 7? Really? How can the Lakers blow out the Rockets by 40 in Game 5 then get outscored 27 – 15 in the 1st quarter? If Luis Scola and Aaron Brooks light you up for a combined 50 points you need to reevaluate things a bit.
This guy? Really?
On a positive note, there are two game 7’s on Sunday… Sunday Funday indeed.
I am not really sure what KG is meaning with the “walking fingers” he is giving to Orlando. The obvious explanation is “walk up off this court dog”. But maybe it was “Yo, dog, I am about to walk out of here now that the game is done so if you want to talk meet me in the locker room”. The possibilities are endless. Here is my question… what the hell is KG doing on the bench? Doesn’t he need surgery? Why wouldn’t he get it over with so he can have as much time as possible to rehab? Is he planning to come back for the Cleveland series? Willis Reed type shit? No way they can lose a homepage if he does to do that.
There is a report out (no source sorry) that says Derek Fisher is going to be suspended for Game 3 because he laid a pick (read: laid out) on Luis Scola. What kind of bullshit is this? Granted, it was a HARD pick and fine, he got ejected. But a whole other full game suspension? Why does everyone say that NHL playoffs are the best of the majors? Because the intensity is multiplied 10 fold. That is what happens in the NBA too… you WANT people to play harder. You can’t call meaningless fouls in the last minute and you can’t suspend players for playing hard.
For the record, while I am happy that Artest got ejected because that left Battier to defend Kobe alone he didn’t deserve it. Hopefully Artest, Kobe and Fisher aren’t suspended… hopefully the teams don’t play less hard for the rest of the series.
To quote Simmons… I am getting sick of the No Balls League.
The 2nd Round Western Conference Playoff series between the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets begins tonight. I am a homer. This is a fact. But if I wasn’t, I don’t think I could come up with any scenario that the Lakers don’t win in 5 or 6 games.
The Lakers have a CLEAR edge at PG, SG and PF and a much stronger bench. The one thing that scares me is what Artest will do in the series. He is one of the best all around players in the game. If he is asked to d up Kobe, which I think he will be, h
I am gay for Artest and still wish the Lakers pulled the trade for him a couple years ago. He is just fantastic. He is as good a defender as Bruce Bowen but just not a dirty (brawl in Detroit excluded).
Another match-up to watch closely is Yao v Bynum. Tons of people are saying Yao has the edge here but I just don’t buy it. Bynum is turning into one of the premiere defenders in the league and is quick enough to d-up Yao in the perimeter to squash those easy j’s that Yao gets.
Since our resident Boston homer is MIA today, I figured I would post something on the NBA Eastern Conference first round playoff series between the Bulls and Celtics.
Now, this series is absolutely fantastic… and HIGHLY entertaing: Rondo is averaging a triple double, the last three games went into overtime, there seems to be a general HATE between the two teams. But, let’s not go crazy and say this is the best playoff series ever. Pump the brakes on that one ESPN. And for the people who are saying “this is the best first round playoff series ever”. What does that even mean? I just farted at my desk and it was the smelliest fart that anyone has ever done on 5/1 @ 11:45 while posting about the first round of the NBA playoffs!!!!
BTW… Rondo was SHOOK when Hinrich came after him. I would take Heinrich 9 our of 10 times against Rondo
Welcome to the last REAL football weekend of the year. I don’t count the Super Bowl because it has turned into such a shit show that the game gets lost. Before we get to the picks, I just wanted to let everyone know that not only am I anxiously waiting for the baseball season because, well, baseball is the best, but also… it is like 5 degrees in NY today. There is no reason for it to ever get that cold… global warming my ass!
HOME TEAM IN CAPS:
CARDINALS (+4) over the Eagles
This is going to be an outright win for the Cards. Westbrook will be rendered useless and therefore no double team needed. Don will be forced to air it out 105 times and will end up getting picked 4+ times.
I literally hate Kurt “paper or plastic” Warner and really don’t WANT him to win, but I just feel they are going to wipe the floor with the Eagles.
Ravens (+6) over STEELERS
This game is going to be entertaining as all hell and I think the Steelers are the best team still in the playoffs, but 6 points is WAY to high of a spread for this game. The Steelers will win by a field goal but I do not see any team running away with this game. If Big Ben throws one tadow the Steelers will win.
