Obama’s First Presidential News Conference

February 9th, 2009

Watching Obama’s first presidential new conference right now and I have to say I am a bit disappointed.  While Obama is certainly the most gifted stump speaker that I have seen in my lifetime, he has a much harder time with question and answer periods.  Now this was his first one and I am sure it takes a view to get the hang of things and maybe my expectations were too high, but I felt he needed to be a bit more straight forward with the answers and not be as long0winded.

I think the White House press corps may get a bit annoyed with him over time and then turn on him.  Something to watch out for.

Obama’s Version of DIGG

January 15th, 2009

One of Obama’s campaign promises was that he would be a president for the people by connecting with John Q. Public through new technology. With the upcoming inauguration, one can have updates sent to their mobile device throughout the long weekend. During the election he used multiple social media channels to reach the young voters. Well, now he has started the Citizens Briefing Book.

Similar to DIGG, people can go to the site and rate ideas that they feel should be worked on by the current (er – upcoming) administation. Users can also share their own ideas and add them to the site.

I am skeptical as to how this will actually affect (effect? I still can’t get that one) what the administration does but at least they are trying. A good idea would be to celebrate the users whose ideas are actually implemented. That will certainly create a buzz and generate tons of traffic to the site.

How long will the hope last?

Renewable Energy

January 14th, 2009

I know this is a little late, with only about $350 billion left of the stimulus package that approved by our elected officials to save our economy, but we are using this money completely wrong.

As was done in the New Deal, we needed to use this money for something that not only would create jobs, but also benefit the country’s global standing moving forward. The answer here WAS renewable energy. Renewable energy is energy generated from natural resources (sun, wind, rain, etc).

Instead of spending billions of dollars on a failing auto industry why not CREATE an industry that this country, and world, desperately needs? You say we need to save all the jobs in Detroit? Well, let’s replace those jobs with solar panel factory jobs.

America built itself up to be the world power it is by ingenuity and innovation and if we are to remain a world power we need to LEAD the industry of renewable energy.

With that said, I fully support the porn industry bailout… if porn isn’t recession proof NOTHING is.
